WIN: Five family tickets to the East Anglian Game & Country Fair

For the fifth consecutive year Dogs Trust is returning to the East Anglian Game & Country Fair, a weekend packed with fun for all the family! This year it's taking place on the 28th and 29th of April.

The event features animals in their plenty and arena displays including an array of visual activities from sheep racing to crazy stunts from mountain bike team Savage Skills. There will also be plenty of activities for people to join in with such as clay shooting, mountain boarding, donkey rides and helicopter flights. And not forgetting the canine stars as there will be food tents, shopping and so much more for our four-legged friends. All together this is a must-do date for your diary.

Two four-legged residents from Dogs Trust Snetterton will also be visiting the fair in the larger than life eye-catching yellow mobile rehoming unit. So whether you love dogs, have your own or are looking for a new addition to your home pop in and say hello to the team. The team will be there to offer information on rehoming a dog, the local Dogs Trust centre, and the work of the charity, including ways in which you can get involved, plus the chance to meet a couple of our beautiful dogs.

Best of all, five family tickets to attend the fair are up for grabs!

How to Enter

This competition has now closed and the winners will shortly be informed by email. Thank you for entering, and hope we see you at the Fair!

Please note: The prize consists of one family ticket per winner, which covers 2 adults (17yrs+) and up to three children (5-16, under 5s admitted free). UK entries only. Winners will be chosen at random after the closing date, and notified by email. Dogs Trust reserves the right to reject incomplete entries, so please remember to include your name and address. Your details will not be added to our database.

Dogs Trust joins Met Police, RNLI and more for Be Safe Week

Hot on the heels of telling you all about things you might not know about us, here's an event you might not have heard about yet that we're taking part in. Natalie Dexter (pictured), one of our Education Officers, tells us more:

The Transport for London Safety & Citizenship team has put together a group of special guests including us for Be Safe Week at the London Transport Museum next week. It'll be a fun five days of learning about safety in the lovely setting of the museum and a hopefully sunny Covent Garden Piazza.

Throughout the Museum there will be drop-in workshops run by London Ambulance Service, Westminster Council Road Safety Team, London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, RNLI and of course Dogs Trust all giving practical skills and advice around personal safety.

Plus it’s free for all under-16s! Tickets are otherwise £13.50/£10 conc. but are good for unlimited entrance for an entire year.

Here's the info again:

Be Safe Week at the London Transport Museum
22-26 August 2011

Pete "the Vet" Wedderburn needs your votes to complete the Tri-City-Athlon for Dogs Trust!

Vet and freelance journalist Pete Wedderburn has long been a friend of ours here, and he wants to seriously show his support by donning Dogs Trust yellow in the Tri-City-Athlon event. However, he needs your vote to do it!

The gruelling competition, held on September 14th, includes a 1,500 swim (in Paris), a 40km cycle ride (in Brussels) and a 10km run (in London).

Known as @petethevet to his Twitter followers, Wedderburn is a partner in a busy vet practice as well as a regular contributor to The Daily Telegraph among others, and a dedicated supporter of animal charities.

Our Chief Executive, Clarissa Baldwin, had this to say:
“Pete has been a fantastic ambassador for Dogs Trust over the years and we are thrilled that he is hoping to compete on our behalf once again this year. Dogs Trust receives no government funding so relies on its wonderful supporters to help care for the fabulous dogs at its 18 rehoming centres. We wish Pete all the very best of luck.”
The Tri-City-Athlon is a mutli-venue triathlon event will be held across three major European cities on the same day in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. Triathletes are restricted to those able to swim 1500m in 45 minutes, cycle 40km in 1hr 40 mins and run 10k in 1hr 10 mins.
If you add your vote, Pete could be taking part in the elite race alongside some of the best triathletes on the planet.
