Dogs Trust Kenilworth's pair of pretty Pugs rehomed to dedicated couple

Supporter Relations Officer Jane Hirons at Dogs Trust Kenilworth was impressed when a pair of potential rehomers went out of their way to visit the centre....

Ellie and Rosie, two beautiful Pugs looking to be rehomed, came into the centre when their owner could no longer care for them. Being mother and daughter and always being used to each others company we thought they should stay together despite the fact that rehoming both dogs to the same home might prove a little difficult!

David, one of our Canine Carers, was embarking on a project towards a training course he was undertaking, so what luck that David needed to identify a story and the Pugs needed to find a new home. David took some footage of Ellie and Rosie and we posted it on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook (you can see it below); well it wasn't long at all before the centre started to receive calls about our Pug duo and in particular one call stood out from the rest.

Mr & Mrs Watson already owned their own Pug and despite travelling home from their holiday in London they were desperate to come and visit Ellie and Rosie. So much so that they stopped off on en route to Yorkshire and stayed overnight in the hotel next door to the centre; they were that keen to be first through the door on Saturday!

Ellie and Rosie will soon be making their way to their new home in Yorkshire and David will be able to complete his project so what wonderful news all round. We wish our little Pug friends all the very best with Mr & Mrs Watson and their resident Pug and look forward to hearing how they have settled in at home.

So David, what's the next project?!

Forget The Apprentice: From Facebook to Dogs Trust Chief Executive...?

Move over Sir Alan's lot.. there's a new apprentice in town.

When Charlie Knight's mum left the following message on our Facebook page, it was too irresistable not to send it on to our Chief Executive, Clarissa Baldwin:



Her response was to insist on meeting her competition! Charlie and Clarissa met today at Dogs Trust London (Harefield) where he was shown around the kennels and told how the rehoming centre works. Supporter Relations Officer Charlotte Peters (who has run 10k and thrown herself out of an aeroplane for the charity before) interviewed them both as they were having a chat about the day-to-day life of a Chief Executive Officer.



I hope Charlie and his mum had a fantastic day, and here's to his wonderful love of dogs! I know Clarissa had a great time and really enjoyed meeting him.

Does your dog have the Rex Factor? Show us - it's easy!

From time to time you'll have heard me mentioning the Dogs Trust Honours, awards that celebrate man's best friend. This year we have a video category - Rex Factor - that invites your dogs to take centre stage, showing off their jazziest moves and cleverest tricks.

Some people have said that they're nervous about entering because they don't have any professional equipment, so we made the video below to prove that you don't need any of that!




For the record, we used:

1 x Dogs Trust Web Editor with supremely dodgy video editing skills
1 x assistant camera person who shall remain nameless (oops!)
1 x Canine Gang Dog
1 x Flip video camera (but any other video recording equipment is fine)
Windows Movie Maker editing software which came with our computers (anything will do as long as it can chop it down to size)

See? There's nothing to it! All you need is 40 seconds of your dog being clever*, a free YouTube account and a few more seconds to give us your details and the embed code. You can check out some of the existing entries on our special DoggySnaps kennel.

The deadline is on the 15th of April, so please show us your efforts now and put us to (even more) shame!

*Videos containing dangerous stunts or dressed up dogs will not be accepted.
